Nandita Das is a curious mix of passionate purpose and laid-back charm.

Director, producer, actor and activist, she brings a uniquely humanistic sensibility to all she does, exploring lesser explored facets of life through nuance and empathy.

After the much acclaimed film, Manto, she now presents  Zwigato, a slice of life film that holds a mirror to society through the life of an everyday man and his family. As he navigates a transition to a new way of living and livelihood, the dynamics of class, caste and gender reveal fault lines so normalised that they are almost invisible. And yet, they invite us to introspect, and bring to awareness our own biases and foibles.

With a Master's degree in social work,  Nandita has worked for children's rights, right to education, against colour bias and domestic violence. She is also a vocal supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights.
